“Come join the swarm!”
| Fèis an Eilein is SEALL’s yearly celebration of community culture across Skye – specifically taking place in July in the school holidays to provide events for children over the summer break. This year’s theme is interconnectivity and sustainability, using Bees and Flowers and their symbiotic relationship as a way to engage and draw focus on our need to work in harmony with the natural world.
We propose to deliver a week of free workshops led by internationally acclaimed Scottish puppet company Vision Mechanics (Storm, Big Man Walking) from the 7th-11th of July in which kids and families are invited to make a giant bee puppet to bring with them for the Swarm Parade on the 12th of July. Through the overarching week of giant puppet making, we will have guest workshops from different local groups tying into the theme of interconnectivity and sustainability, engaging children with education on wild flora, cycle repair and bike safety and more! To include other parts of the region, we are also adding additional workshops in June at Carbost and Dunvegan primary and encourage everyone to come and join us on the family day on the 12th of July! Ages 8+ 7th 11th July: Puppet Making from 10am-4pm (Lunch break 12pm-1pm) |
